I did an abs workout and press-up sequence today. Need to re-get into the habit of doing something like that every day and aim to do cardio at least 5 days a week, even if it isn't much.

My life is cardio. But I always have trouble sticking with the strength exercises as well as stretching. When I'm out of shape and just attempting to get going again I tend to do well as far as strength stuff, but just as soon as my mileage gets going I basically end up ONLY running and hiking and nothing else. I don't do balance well. I'm a man of excess.

5 miles in the fog this morning. The leaves are beginning to change. The forest is looking beautiful. I should probably charge up on stills camera and get some shots.

I've started to get into the strength exercises but not the cardio this week. I've been doing some sit ups and push ups daily for the last three or four days, as well as some barbell work in the garden. Not much, but the plan is to ease my way into it.

I've had opportunities to go for a run but am really struggling for motivation. With the weather worsening, I worry that if I can't drag my ass out at the moment, when will I?!

I was quite good this morning. I biked the kids to school, which is just under 1.5 miles there, so I did a near 3 mile round trip on the bike. Once I got in I thought I better take a shower, before I suddenly thought, hang on, you're in your sports gear, it's not raining, you don't have work today. So I stuck on my running shoes and did a short run. Nothing major, just shy of 2 miles but it's a start!

Just a short walk with my mother this morning on the Pine Creek Trail in the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon during the middle of a long drive around the reason doing some sight seeing of the fall foliage. Back to my normal workout tomorrow. We've had a few days of really great, warm weather. Unfortunately the temp is set to take a nosedive beginning Friday.

I did a good bit of cycling today. I had a dentist appointment before work which was pretty much the opposite direction to work, so I had to bike the two miles to the dentist and then bike five and a bit miles to work from there and then at the end of the day do the 3 and a bit miles from work to home. So all in all I probably clocked up almost 11 miles of cycling today. I used to do 20 miles in a hour, so not that impressive when you look at it like that, but that was a long, long time ago!

11 miles is a solid day.


I did 5 miles on the single track trails and another mile on the flats by the river this morning.

I did a very short barbell session in the back garden as well as some sit-ups today.

I probably should have gone longer today, as it looks to be a total washout on Saturday.
