RE: TGC Fitness Thread - Danster - 10-28-2023 I have at least started to get into the habit of doing daily press ups and sit ups. There is a charity encouraging people to do a sponsored 100 press ups a day in November. I won't bother with the sponsorship side of things but might join in with the 100 press ups a day throughout the month. I need to get the cardio going though. Today won't help as I'm off to the annual beer festival. Just lining my stomach with a Scotch before I jump on an e-bike (we have a network of stations where you can collect and drop off bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters for a charge, costs me about £2.20/$3 to get into the city and saves me about 15 minutes if I walked) to head into the city centre. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - General Ceel - 10-28-2023 mmm, beer festival! rest day for me. Its raining anyhow. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - General Ceel - 11-04-2023 No workout this morning, but I did take a short walk in my "happy place' with a camera to snap a few photos of the fading leaves. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - Danster - 11-04-2023 Yep, just a walk for me today. I'm tempted to try one of these fitness apps that give you 15 minute workouts to follow each day. I seem to be better when I have a box to tick as a target. One of these calisthenics things that you can do at home without equipment. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - General Ceel - 11-06-2023 Give it a try. Might be just the thing for you. I did 4 miles this morning. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - General Ceel - 11-09-2023 4 miles again this morning. Looking to surpass 800 miles for the year in a day or two. I haven't had an 800 mile year since 2016. For the entire decade prior to that I was ran between 1,100 and 2,000 miles each year. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - Danster - 11-10-2023 I did a brief calisthenics workout yesterday, my quads are feeling it today though! I had an enforced run this morning as I had to drop my car off at the garage that's about two miles away, so I jogged home. I'll probably have to job back later to pick it up. It was good to get some running done, but depressing at the same time. I wouldn't say it was difficult, but it certainly wasn't easy and when you think that only four months ago I was running 49 minutes 10kms then it should not have felt as hard as it did! RE: TGC Fitness Thread - Danster - 11-13-2023 I've started to get into a daily habit of doing an at-home work out every day so that's a start. I get my twice a week cycle into the office to give me a minimal amount of cardio, but I definitely need to start doing a bit more. I might take my punchbag down from the garage as it hangs from a pull-up bar, someone told me that pull-ups are one of the best ways to get in shape without leaving the house. I used to be quite good at them too. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - General Ceel - 11-14-2023 I'm 6 foot, 2 inches tall. I don't think I have a place indoors high enough to do pullups even if I had a bar. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - Danster - 11-14-2023 I'm 5'11 and my head gets pretty close to the garage roof! |
