RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - Danster - 02-09-2024 I managed to get a 5km done today during a lull in the rain. It didn't stop but slowed to a drizzle for long enough for me to get out there and not get drenched. I got lucky because about 15 minutes after I got back it started to pour down. I tried running with ear buds in for the first time so I listened to a podcast as I ran. I was grateful for the entertainment, but it seemed to somehow make me feel a bit more lethargic. I'll keep at it, because I do have a tendency to get bored on longer runs. I'm in a city so the scenery isn't exactly compelling and I haven't got the greatest attention span. I'm just shy of 35km for February. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - Danster - 02-10-2024 Just did a run shy of 7km. I need to get me a watch or something as I'd have added a bit at the end to break 7km. I check how far I ran once I'm home and it was 6.9km today. Doesn't really matter but its nice psychologically to hit a round number rather than falling just short. Comfortably over 40km for February now. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - General Ceel - 02-12-2024 a significant snowfall coming tonight, so I'm headed out on the trails this morning while they're clear. But tomorrow might be a chance to use my snowshoes. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - Danster - 02-12-2024 Just did a lunch hour run, 7.34km according to How Far Did I Run. I won a £50 voucher in a competition at work, I think I might put that towards a GPS watch. It was bright and sunny today but there was a cold wind and it wasn't comfortable for the first kilometre or two until my body temperature warmed up and then I was grateful for the stiff breeze. I struggled for the first bit, maybe due to the temperature, but then started to actually feel better as I went on. Towards the end I thought about doing a loop of my estate and adding another kilometre or so, but then I thought I'm still early in this little regime so I don't want to stretch myself. Whilst I've got this motivation, the last thing I want to do is injure myself and have a handful of days when I don't get out and risk sliding back into my demotivated funk. Just shy of 50km for February now. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - General Ceel - 02-13-2024 I've never seen a weather forecast get blown as badly as this one. Looks like I'll have snow free trails this morning. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - Danster - 02-14-2024 6km this morning. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - General Ceel - 02-14-2024 a couple of miles this morning. Very cold out. Just going through the motions really, biding my time until spring. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - Danster - 02-16-2024 Decent day today and I'm working from home again, so planning another lunchtime run. I've got a bit of soreness in my knee though when I turn at certain angles, I'm hoping it doesn't affect my running. No run yesterday but I did bike to work and back. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - Danster - 02-16-2024 Just back from a 9.58km run. I really need to get me one of those fitness watches, as I would definitely have stuck it out for another 400m had I known I was so close to 10km. I haven't run a 10km since July. Just over 64km for the month, almost two thirds of the way there. I only need to do an average of under 2.8km a day now to hit a 100km month. RE: TGC Fitness Thread - 2024 - General Ceel - 02-16-2024 I use a Coros Apex watch https://us.coros.com/ I went through like 3 Garmin watches back in the day but they were glitchy and not as durable as I would like. The Coros Apex has been great though. And battery life has come a long way since I had my first GPS watch. It used to be that it would die before I could finish an ultra marathon. Now its has days worth of power. |
