Andor Season 2 - Danster - 12-11-2023

Rumours are that the release date for this is likely to be pushed back to 2025, with it originally pencilled in for August 2024.

Gutted to have to wait longer for this, I absolutely loved the first season. For me, Andor, Rogue One and Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 were all fantastic and worthy to sit alongside the original trilogy. I cannot wait for the second series.

More than a rumor, as far as I know. Pretty much a forgone conclusion after the strike.

Yeah, I was looking forward to it too. Its not as flashy as some of the shows, and decidedly more mature. In the long run, its gonna be something that stands the test of time moreso than some of the others.

Yeah, I think it was brilliant, so well acted. It needed patience, but that patience was easy to come by with the incredible scenery.

I loved the world building. We really got a closeup look at how the Empire functions. We've never had that on the screen in live action before.

Yeah, and the whole deep-dive into the Death Star construction, really getting into the details of how it came to be. I loved the prison escape storyline. Hell, I loved it all.

I love that Andor, who will eventually go on a mission for the Death Star plans, found himself enslaved to build parts for the Death Star. It says something about society, how prisoners, slaves or ordinary citizens can be used as build the instruments of their own oppression. Its very true to the real world in that way.

I'd never considered that but it's a powerful point.

indeed!

No we've got confirmation of a Mandalorian film, I believe in addition to a fourth series. Hopefully they don't ruin it. As mentioned, season 3 didn't really live up to the first two in my humble opinion.

RE: Andor Season 2 - General Ceel - 01-12-2024

I was just watching a show on youtube where one of the hosts had an idea about this situation that I tend to agree with....

When the first two season of The Mandalorian came out it seemed to be a rare instance of most Star Wars fans being united again in praise for what they were seeing. It was the simple lone wolf and cub format. But as soon as we get to season 3 they tried to expand the show and immediately it was less well received. At times it seemed more like Bo-Katan's show than Din Djarin's. But at the end of the season we're left with Din and Grogu alone together again on a farm at the outskirts of town....

...given the obvious American "old west" movie influence the series has always had, this movie would be best as a kind of homage to Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven. Make it a small, quiet film where the heroes are reluctantly dragged into action to help somebody....

Subsequent other movies or season 4 could pick up where season 3 left off. I'd go so far as to suggest there be no "Mandalorian Season 4," and instead giving us a show called "The Mandalorians," which spends most of its time with Bo-Katan and all the other Mandalorians they've introduced us to.
