Decluttering? - General Ceel - 12-19-2023
Do you ever get the urge to declutter your house?
As a rule, I'm not much of a pack-rat to begin with, but from time to time I still find myself with an urge to give away / throw away accumulated items. Over the years I've thinned down my possessions quite substantially, and yet I still found an entire garbage bag full of items to toss out this afternoon.
I've also done a bunch of online / digital decluttering as well in recent years.

My wife is a big declutterer, sometimes too much. She'll throw games away that haven't been plated with for a few months, only for the kids to ask for them. There were two items on my kids' wish lists that we had previously owned and thrown out or donated to a charity shop!

Kids certainly make it tougher to do.

My Mum was the opposite, as a kid I'd try and declutter and she would take stuff I'd thrown away out of the bin!

I remember my dad always been a neat freak, but it was done kind of antagonistically. So he'd have us freaking out "so is he gonna come home and be all angry because everything isn't perfect?" And of course it was never good enough.
