I live in a small city that doesn't really have any sports clubs (or franchises as you would call them) other than the one Football (Soccer) team, so the vast majority of sports fans here will support the football club, Norwich City. There are a good number of bandwagon fans who support the teams that win stuff, like Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, but thankfully they are outnumbered by proper supporters.
The UK is such a football-obsessed country that no other sport really gets much of a look in. We pay attention to Tennis when Wimbledon is on, Cycling only gets an airing when the Tour de France is on. Rugby Union is probably the second biggest sport but it only has a dozen or so professional clubs that not many people watch, the nation as a whole is only vaguely interested when the Six Nations is on (a competition between England, France, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy) or when the World Cup rolls around every four years. Cricket becomes popular when the Ashes are on. But really, the only sport able to consistently grab the nation's attention in any significant sort of number is Football.
