Looks like F1 is set for a 5th July return in Austria, followed by a second race at the same circuit a week later. They then plan to do two races in England but need to figure a work around the incoming 14 day quarantine laws.

First Race back took place Sunday afternoon. It was weird not to have the normal party atmosphere, and after so many weeks off the track to do it without any practice or qualifying... these were the very first laps these guys have run since the the lock down. But it was great to have a new event to watch, and the'll be doing it again on Wed due to the condensed schedule now in place.

4 days in a row of Nascar racing across 3 series (Cup, Xfinity, Trucks.) I'm in heaven!

Early days but Mercedes look set for yet another dominant season in F1. Yawn.
No surprise there. The series has a huge competition problem.

In Nascar news, 7 time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson tested positive for Covid-19 - the first driver to test positive after a month and a half of racing again. He has no symptoms. Looks like he got it from his wife, who is symptomatic.

Mercedes locked out the front row but it's Bottas not Hamilton in the number 1 space. Ferrari have gone backwards, 10th and 11th on the grid.

Starting on the front Row in F1 pretty much guarantees a win most of the time. They should end the weekend with qualifying. lol

About 40% of the time, not quite the 20% from the Indy 500, but still, more races are won by people not in pole position.

40% is a huge number. There only 20 cars, but it might as well be 10 because of so-called "team orders" which should be illegal to begin with.

I watched three races yesterday - Nascar Xfinity series, IMSA sportscar race at Dayton and Indycar. The Nascar Xfinity race was by far the best. 4 way battle for the lead in the closing laps on the Indianapolis road course.

Thank god for cautions to add some chance into the F1 race. At least it bunched the field back up somewhat a couple of times so there was actually racing going on late in the race.

Though penalizing people for racing is stupid. Contact happens. Its racing.

Yeah, not a great race until the final section when it livened up a bit.

The penalty for Lewis Hamilton was beyond a joke, especially when the same thing happened to the same two drivers only the other way round on Lap 1. Hamilton had the sense and experience to know not to leave his car there, Albon tried to hang it out and it was actually his car that hit into Hamilton. How stewards saw that as a 5 second penalty is beyond belief. They are worse than Football referees.
