At least in a relatively mainstream sense, he's the beginning of the mess that most recently culminated with Jan 6 at the capitol. Of course, its gotten a lot worse since his peak years. He was supplanted by the likes of Alex Jones, and then social media blew up and it just got more and more absurd. Not that this kind of craziness was new, but he's certainly part of the chain leading to Donald Trump entering the mainstream.
