Creator Jon Favreau previously revealed that the second season of The Mandalorian would arrive on Disney+ this Fall, but during today’s Disney Earnings Call The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger revealed that The Mandalorian Season 2 release date is October 2020. Later on the call it was confirmed that the possibilities for a third season as well as Mandalorian spin-offs are being explored. It was also revealed that the new streaming service has amassed 28.6 million subscribers.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

Pedro Pascal (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) will star as a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy and will be joined by Gina Carano (Deadpool) who plays Cara Dune, a former Rebel Shock Trooper, having trouble re-integrating herself into society.; and Carl Weathers as Greef, a man who heads a guild of bounty hunters that hires The Mandalorian for a specific job.

Purchase Rogue One: A Star Wars Story here.

Also set to star in the series are Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man) and Nick Nolte (Affliction).

Jon Favreau serves as executive producer and showrunner for the series, Directors for the first season include Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), who will be directing the first episode, plus Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), who will also provide the voice for bounty hunter IG-88 in the series.

The Mandalorian will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer.

Impressive cast. I'm really looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about. Must be around seven weeks til Disney+ launches here.

Its good, but it faces significant challenges moving forward. All the things that people are praising about it, in my opinion, are the kinds of things that people will get tired of in a hurry. The point is, in season 2 they can't fall back on the "baby yoda" and the mysterious nature of "the mandalorian." They'll have to be much more bold and forthcoming.

I do now have Disney+ but haven't got round to watching The Madalorian yet. My wife even seems keen, despite not being a big Star Wars fan.

Its fun. It went over well, as the first live action show... but they'll have to raise the bar moving forward.

I used Disney + for a month and then cancelled. I've been watching through my blu ray / dvd collection a lot during the quarantine along with making some online purchases of things I needed to add to my collection. If this goes on much longer I may pick up Disney + or some other service for another month.. but probably not.

I'm enjoying Disney + but am still in my first month. It's very glitchy mind you, often doesn't load when I click on in and regularly it takes a long time for a selection to start playing.

As well as the movies and TV series, which is obviously a godsend with my kids during lockdown, our first dip into the documentaries has been a success. We're two episodes into the five-part docu-series The Imagineering Story and it's a fascinating watch so far.

I love the idea of a female focused Star Wars but I could not stand Russian Doll. I seem to be in a minority if the consensus of people at my work is anything to go by, but I thought it was rubbish.

I don't understand why the industry still choose to use terms like "female focused." Its practically begging to create hate, as it makes it look like an agenda. They should have simply announced the show... we can tell what gender the main characters are. lol

I agree perhaps phrasing it like that is ill-advised, but the only people who will hate it are dickhead misogynists and creepy little incels raging in their mother's houses. Those guys can get to fuck. More female role models in the Star Wars galaxy are welcome as far as I am concerned.
